Recommended Reads: THE SCORPIO RACES

Here’s another magical story I couldn’t put down. Part of me was bothered by the idea of capturing and caging mythical sea horses, and that feeling only seemed to get worse as the story went on.

But I think that’s kind of the point. It adds to a darkness in this book that wouldn’t be so pronounced without it, and in that darkness this love story shines so bright.

One of my favorite concepts in love stories is when the differences between two people create the perfect connection, a meant-to-be team, and each brings something to the other. Where each person guards the other, keeps them safe from their demons. They don’t just love each other, they need each other in a life-or-death way.

And there’s so much more going on in this plot which I don’t want to mention for fear of ruining the magic.

UNQUIET Update – December 15

UNQUIET is with the first editor. When I sent it off I was like, YAY I GET A BREAK! Then I realized I have to use this time to write the blurb.

Fact: A novel’s blurb is harder to write than the novel itself.

UNQUIET Update – December 7

Twenty-eight degrees Fahrenheit is the perfect temperature for a night walk. A lively dog who sets a quick pace and likes to add in bursts of sprinting is a must. Added bonus is neighbors using their fireplaces and filling the crisp air with woodsmoke. We walked/ran two miles in about 45 minutes. It would have been quicker if we hadn’t needed to stop from time to time and sniff many individual pieces of grass. And pause on the street corner to survey for threats and scrutinize every blinking Christmas light and falling leaf. And go out of the way to avoid the inflated waving Santa who most certainly was trying to kill us. Can I trade June, July, and August for three more Decembers?

On to book news. My revisions are going very fast. Editing starts very soon. My guess for publication is March, but don’t hold me to that.

I still haven’t decided which of the three closing lines is the one…
