The Alignment is a contemporary fantasy series about two rival families and the people caught between them. If you haven’t read the first book, the Kindle version will be free on Amazon January 19-23. This series is very sequential so the books should be read in order. I’m incredibly proud of THE CATALYST. It’s a tight package of a story that moves as fast as its position in the series demands. We’re nearing the climax here and things are tense. TB is feeling the strain and taking it exactly as you’d expect. Liv? Well, let’s just say she’s losing it too.

Thanks so much to my talented team: editor Max Dobson, proofreader Debra Argosy, and the artists at Damonza.com. This book would not be what it is without them.

I hope you like THE CATALYST! It’s being released at $2.99 as a thank-you to the fans of the series who’ve been waiting patiently. Price will go up soon, so get it now!

THE CATALYST
Book Four of The Alignment Series

Trey returns from another visit to the Moore estate with nothing but more anger and less room in his head to stow it. Old coping mechanisms no longer work. Not with a newborn in the mix. And Liv, who’s had enough.

Liv has found what’s missing: a memento of her past she’s worked hard to forget. It unearths memories of a different man—a stable partner, a loving father. As it draws her in, Trey’s new anger drives her away.

Desperate to find Liv, Trey digs into his arsenal of magic for a dark power he’s never used. He shouldn’t use—he has to use. What he doesn’t expect is who that power lures: a visitor, with answers for Liv, complications for Trey, and a claim on their daughter almost as threatening as the Moores’. And what that power creates: a weapon, perfectly crafted to target all who share his blood. A vulnerability placed upon their daughter. And the perfect way for the Moores to destroy them all.

THE CATALYST Update, Plus a Giveaway

Lots of progress on THE CATALYST since the last post! Proofreading is complete on draft one of the paperback interior. The formatter is applying final changes now. Ebook formats are next but should be quick. I think we can measure the time in weeks now, and I’m feeling really good about this book. I think it will be worth the wait. :)

I feel like I should apologize, though, or warn readers… because it’s nonstop page-turning craziness. Trigger warning for one catastrophe after another and some serious bad behavior from one difficult hero. I can’t control him. I tried. It’s a lost cause. But makes for some good reading, I hope. :)

THE CATALYST Update – September 22

Happy Autumnal Equinox! A day of equal night and day, when the sun rises due east and sets due west…and when THE CATALYST has been sent off to my editor for round one.

I’ve also sent the book’s info to my cover artist to get the cover started. I can’t wait to see what they come up with. It’s a jaw-dropping surprise every single time.

There are only three months left in 2016. I’m not sure that’s enough time to get this book finished but I’m going to be as hard-headed as TB and as calmly optimistic as Liv and power ahead believing I can still get it published this year.

THE CATALYST Update – February 17

On Monday night I broke 40,000 words on the first draft of THE CATALYST. That’s one-third of the way there!

I took last night and tonight off because I can’t figure out what these characters are trying to do. Liv isn’t making any sense and TB is just staring angrily at the wall. I know the next thing that has to happen. It’s pretty important, but it can’t happen until something happens before it and I’m not sure what that thing is.

Now I think *I’m* not making any sense. I should just stop talking and start staring angrily at the wall. I think TB has the right idea.

Anyway, it’s all been put on the back burner to simmer. It just needs time to work itself out. After two nights away I can feel it forming. Just now I got a hint of what’s going to happen and jotted a few notes in my little yellow memo book in my nightstand. By tomorrow it should be ready to come out.

THE CATALYST: 20,000 Word Mark

I just reached the 20,000 word mark in THE CATALYST.

TB is breaking my heart. Anti-heroes can be traumatizing to write sometimes. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

While you wait for those 100,000 or so remaining words, here’s another series with a great anti-hero with his own set of problems. He’s angsty, tormented, foul-mouthed, and also a heavy drinker just like someone I know. And the women around him are casting a floodlight on his problems. Making him own up. Maybe making him clean up, if my hopes for the series are fulfilled. I really hope there’s a happily ever after for Caleb, #1001, and Fran, too. They’ve stolen my hearts as much as my own characters live to do.

Try it! The first one’s only $.99 on Kindle right now. It’s wonderfully devourable. Probably one of my favorite series of all time.
